Another open mic event took place today at Addington bar, which is located in Christchurch city center. This time I took ‘my rig’ with me and tried to set up a bit of a sound for my guitar. As a preamp I use Blackstar HT1 tube amp, then signal comes into Line6 HD pro digital processor. I found this relatively good variant for my Yamaha Pacifica guitar sound for now.
To set my entire rig up, I placed the preamp and processor on the right side of the stage next to the mixer, so, it didn’t disturb the others to play. While I was setting it up, Gavin sung some nice songs with acoustic guitar accompaniment as he usually does it. Unfortunately, I left jack-jack cable at home, so, he kindly gave me one of his ones. I much appreciate his attitude and assistance to everyone on this event, when Gav is running an Open Mic, everything is going well. Even if someone forgot cables, guitars, his/her head at home, Gavin will find a way to overcome it J).

While I was playing “nothing else matters” a simple fingerstyle way, a drummer was tuning up the drums, when the drums got in tune, we jammed a bit and my wife recorded some videos of us – we will place it on our U-tube channel when it is ready.
I’ve done some of the other instrumentals and finished my performance with my original called SQ, which is quite fun to play alive.
My wife Sofia was taking pictures and videos though the entire event, so, all of the listed here pictures are taken by her.
There were many interesting performers, who played and sung at the event, including Glen Johnson, Michael Mead, Bobby Lee Anderson and others. Sammie also was there, I noticed, she played on all of the Open Mics I’ve been so far.

Many years ago, I developed some sort of a sound converter, which allows line output signal to be converted into a phone microphone input signal with the correct volume level. We tried to record one of Bobby’s songs direct from the mixer console to my phone, at the same time, Sofia was filming his performance on a camera. We are going to try to connect this sound and the video to see, if we can make a ‘live stream’ out of it. If so, then we will be able to do life streams on events like this on EventsHub U-tube channel. So this is going to be a proof of the concept, will see, how it will go.
Another beautiful event finished, time to go home.
