Hello All, we reached Auckland at late afternoon and checked in to Waiupna hotel (https://www.waipunahotel.co.nz/) located in Mt Wellington area of Auckland. I have been there before during my business trips, so, I decided to stay there for several reasons. This place located by the beautiful Panmure basin next to the old volcano called Mount Wellington. This place is a nice observation point as you can see the most of the city from there. There is a tarmac road to the top of Mt Wellington, and the elevation is not too high, so, if you have a free hour or two in this area it is worth to climb it.

Anyway, we headed to the city center next morning. Auckland had a very convenient railway system. We jumped into a train on Silvia Park station and checked out at the city center. There is a bit specific payment system, a passenger needs to use their banking cars and tap them to a terminal when they get into a train, and then when they get out, so no paper ticket required, however, if you have no card wish you, it is still possible to purchase a paper ticked at major stations.

There are plenty of interesting placed around Auckland CBD, but we out time there was limited, so, we had a good lunch on a wharf and walked down to Sky Tower. Orbit 360 restaurant, which is located on the top of the tower, is serving food until 1:30pm (for some reason). We had a booking at that time however, we missed our time and had to cancel the booking. However, it was still possible to visit a viewpoint on the tower and that was our aim there.

The views are stunning, the tower is not that tall, just like The Eiffel Tower in France, but it is tall enough the see the beauty of Auckland from a birth flight altitude. There are some entertainment activities in the tower, starting from some photo stuff and ‘glass floor’, finishing by jumping from the tower on a rope or something like that.

The time is flying very fast, so, we left the CBD, jumped into a train to return to our car, which was waiting for us at Silvia Park. As in any big city, a car is not the best means of transportation, so, I would strongly advise to use the public transport here, as it is faster, cheaper and more convenient.

Unfortunately, no pictures can express the actual emotions of being here, I tried my best to capture the most using my camera, however, to feel it, you need to be here. I hope it is good enough encouragement to visit Auckland :)).

The next stop planned is Tauranga and Mt Maunganui – stay tuned up to read the new story soon.

Many thanks for reading,

Best regards, Alex,
