We left Wellington late afternoon and headed towards Taupo. New Zealand roads are full of stunning pictures and scenery views, we were enjoying it so much, so, we never noticed, that the time gone past 9pm. It is quite challenging to find a meal outside after 6pm in New Zealand towns and rural areas, but we were lucky enough to have some food at Turangi Tavern. This night we spent in a hotel in Taupo, but it was another long story as we were booking it on our way there. Anyway, we got up early morning, checked out of the hotel and took our way to meet Barry.

Barry is the first ever New Zealander who travelled around the world on a single engine airplane. Who knows me in person they aware, that I am a pilot license holder and have some connection to aviation, but this is a topic for another post or more.

Barry kindly shown me and Sofia his plane and explained some very interesting details of his worldwide trips on the plane, which you can see on the pictures below.

I was so amazed to learn, that he fly to Oshkosh airshow 2019 and won a bronze award there. He is the only person who fly a plane form New Zealand to Oshkosh.

We were chatting for a good several hours as he is very kind, welcoming and interesting person, when his wife Sandra came back home. We had some nice chats all together and took some pictures of ourselves.

It is always interesting to meet in person people like Barry and Sandra, they inspire you to believe in your dreams and do not stop at a spot, just go there and that’s it.

Barry with his friend Bob have done at least two worldwide trips and many other international flights, you can see the map of these worldwide trips on the picture below.

I took some pictures from his website https://bazflyer.com/, you can follow this link to see full story of his worldwide trips. There is a U-tube channel (BazflyerZKBAZ) with several films which Barry made by himself. I would strongly advise to watch them all.

Living life is about the adventure, not just the journey – this magical phrase I found on his website and I completely agree with it.
