Arts Canterbury is inviting the public to get hands-on with creativity at its upcoming Art Play Day, a community event designed to make the visual arts more accessible and engaging for people of all ages and experience levels.
The event will feature a wide range of artistic activities – such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture – offered in a welcoming, no-pressure environment.
Arts Canterbury artists will be on site to demonstrate techniques, offer guidance, and encourage participants to try something new. All materials will be provided, and the event will be FREE TO ATTEND. No need to book a time, just turn up.
The Art Play Day aims to foster creativity, build community connections, promote well being and give everyone the chance to experience the joy of making art, whether they’re picking up a brush for the first time or are interested in trying out a new medium or technique.
You’re welcome to bring a picnic and make the most of the Climate Action Campus grounds – a space that already hums with colour and creativity. The campus is home to dozens of murals created by local and visiting artists, making it a natural setting for a day dedicated to artistic expression. Many of the on-campus groups such as E5 Art and Clay will have their doors open on the day, inviting visitors to have a look around or to join an activity too.
