Dig for Votes, Treasures & White Camellias

Report

Step back in time where Kate Sheppard lived and discover her hidden world of New Zealand’s suffrage campaign through discovery and learning.

Young history detectives will:

– uncover buried “mystery objects” linked to the women’s suffrage movement
– sort and classify their discoveries like real museum investigators
– learn about the brave women and men who fought for the vote
– create their own white camellia badge — the symbol of support for women’s suffrage
– sign a giant suffrage petition just like people did in the 1890

This relaxed 1.5-hour experience blends hands-on exploration, storytelling, craft, and outdoor discovery in the beautiful grounds of Kate Sheppard House.

A parent or caregiver is required stay for the session and can purchase coffee, tea, and cabinet treats available onsite while children take part in the activity.
