Hapuutanga and Whakawhaanau peepi – Fertility, Pregnancy + Birthing Waananga

Within te ao Māori, hapūtanga is a sacred and significant journey for both wāhine and pēpi. Our tūpuna honoured this time through practices that nurtured the tinana, wairua, and the deep connections between māmā, pēpi, tīpuna and Atua.

This 3-day wānanga is an opportunity to reconnect with these traditional ways, creating space for healing, understanding, and an empowered birthing journey.

What we’ll explore:
• Romiromi and bodywork to support fertility
• Takutaku and oriori for conception
• Pregnancy mirimiri and romiromi
• A birthing waiata to guide pēpi into the world
• Rongoā Māori for wāhine
• Postpartum care and restoration
• The significance of whenua (placenta)
• Creating a calm and intentional birthing environment

Who this is for:
• Hapū māmā and whānau
• Couples on their fertility or pregnancy journey
• Kaimahi, practitioners, and birth workers
• Midwives, doulas, nannies, aunties, nurses, and support people

This wānanga honours the role of the whole whānau, including tāne as protectors and supporters in the birthing journey and supports the reconnection to our traditional practices.
