About the Event
The Indoor & Outdoor Rental Karts (IORK) New Zealand Rental Go Kart Series 2026 kicks off in Christchurch!
Come be part of the South Island Opener as drivers from around New Zealand battle for points, trophies and bragging rights in this national series of rental kart racing.
No experience needed – arrive & drive! All equipment is supplied. Anyone can enter and race — whether you’ve never raced before or you’re a regular at Supa Karts.
Who Can Enter
Open to everyone aged 12 and over No race licence needed or previous experience required book your spot, turn up and race! Choose to race **one round or multiple rounds ** – you don’t need to commit to the entire series
Weight Categories (inc. race gear & ballast)
All drivers are classified by weight for fair racing. Underweight drivers may use approved weight vests to reach the limit.
Under 18 (Youth): 55 kg min (Underweight drivers may use approved weight vests to reach the limit).
Lightweight: 55 – 69.9 kg (Underweight drivers may use approved weight vests to reach the limit).
Standard: 70 – 84.9 kg
Midweight: 85 – 99.9 kg
Heavyweight: 100 kg +\
Everyone races in their own division for points and trophies.
Event Format (5-Day Festival of Racing)
Wednesday: Practice sessions + orientation & pit stop training
Thursday (day): Practice & warm-ups
Thursday night – Friday: Qualifying heats
Saturday: Semi-finals & Major Finals (under the lights – spectators welcome!)
Sunday: IORK Teams Endurance Trophy (official team race for series points)
Series Info
Four national rounds (March – October 2026)
Compete in any round you like – you don’t have to race them all
Drivers who race all 4 rounds earn bonus points (+5) and drop their worst result
Auckland Grand Finale = Double Points
Points awarded for all heats and finals
Teams Endurance results count toward the Teams Championship

IORK New Zealand Driver Champion IORK Teams Endurance Trophy Champion North Island & South Island Champions Trophies and certificates for every round

Every round will be professionally filmed and live-streamed with nationwide promotion, interviews, and highlight packages. Spectators welcome – come cheer trackside and be part of the action!
