Leadership & Management Part 2 Workshop

This workshop will equip leaders and managers with the skills to build high performing and highly motivated teams, the skills to communicate effectively as a leader, become more self-aware, provide coaching and performance management, deal with conflict in a constructive and productive manner, along with developing ways to solve problems as a team. This workshop also gives participants an understanding of the key concepts of leadership and leadership styles along with how to choose and implement a leadership style that is authentic and beneficial to both the organisation and the teams they serve.

Part 2 is a practical skills training course designed for people already in a leadership/management position, or those about to take up a new role, who want to explore the latest thinking and models for effective leadership and management and build on the techniques acquired in our Part 1 workshop.

Course Outcomes

• Define leadership and the characteristics of a good leader
• Identify their current leadership strengths and weaknesses
• Recognise a range of leadership theories and their impact on leadership development
• Adapt their leadership/management style to different situations
• Recognise the importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence as a modern leader
• Demonstrate assertive communication skills when leading their teams
• Apply effective communication skills with different personality types
• Use the GROW model to plan, prepare and structure a coaching session to enhance employee performance
• Employ De Bono’s ‘Six Thinking Hats’ to solve problems as a team
• Apply the OPEN technique to manage team conflict

Course Prerequisite:

Participants must have a good understanding of leadership and management fundamentals and/or have previously attended the Business Training New Zealand – Leadership & Management Level 1 course
