Medieval Art Exhibition – ‘The Art of Devotion’

Report

You’re invited to attend the opening evening for ‘The Art of Devotion’, the first public exhibition by new artist Shaun Hickland.
This collection of manuscript illustrations is inspired by the devotional and illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, blending faith, beauty and cognitive devotion.

Since 2017, Shaun has been creating pieces combining calligraphy, border illustrations and illuminated capitals in his own unique style. A period in Ireland gave a Celtic and theological flavour to his latest pieces, and inspired reflections on the exhibition of original manuscripts in museums. Drawing particularly on Psalters and Books of Hours, he presents his original collection of detailed manuscript pages.
