Christchurch based early music group “Renaissance” will present a programme entitled Entente Cordialle: Melancholy and Mirth: Early Music from England and France. The first half moves from music at the court of Henry VIII through to the baroque composer Purcell and Handel. The second half encompasses the same period but all from France – what a contrast!
The performers and their instruments for this programme are the regular team of Roger Buckton, Nicolette Paul, Jane Brown and Jonathan Le Cocq (viols, recorders, lutes) with special guest – Richard Oswin – harpsichord, recorders and percussion and very special singer – Courtney Hickmott. A new feature for this programme is a vocal quartet in which Courtney is joined with other members of the consort in their capacity as singers.
