Whisk Brush Workshop – Ōtautahi Christchurch

Report

Learn to make a small whisk brush using tī kōuka (cabbage tree) leaves.

Join Gemma Stratton @g.m.stratton to assemble a versatile whisk brush, ideal for sweeping crumbs, wood shavings, or food.

Using natural tī kōuka fibres, you’ll start by learning a European twining technique to create strong, even cordage—a valuable skill that can be applied to many other craft projects. As you work, you’ll connect with handwork methods and gain an appreciation for natural materials.

By the end, you’ll have a sturdy, handmade tool ready for everyday use and the knowledge to explore other creative projects.
