White Camellia Embroidered Flower Workshop

Report

A creative afternoon in the historic home of Aotearoa’s suffrage leader, making a white camellias – an enduring symbol of Kate Sheppard and the 1893 women’s suffrage campaign.

In this hands-on workshop, you will be introduced to basic embroidery and fabric flower techniques; learning how to stitch, shape, and assemble delicate layered petals into a finished white camellia.

This slow and step-by-step lesson learning traditional embroidery, stitches and construction methods, needs no prior experience and will grow your confidence as you go.

You will leave with a beautiful finished fabric camellia—a keepsake to wear, gift, or treasure.

All materials are provided, and the experience includes time to explore the garden of Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House. Tea and coffee and cake can be purchased in the Camellia Room on the day.
