Wilmers Road Reserve Planting

Report

An open invitation is extended for the public to participate in a ‘Planting Event’, with the goal of establishing additional native trees and shrubs. This key event in the ongoing development of the Wilmers Road Conservation Reserve is planned for Sunday July 19th.

The Reserve, is noted as one of the few remaining intact dryland reserves on the Canterbury Plains. It contains small rare plant species and notable dryland moss species.

The planting begins another ongoing partnership between the community, Trees for Canterbury and the Regional Park Rangers of the Christchurch City Council.

The event is scheduled between 10.00am to 12.00pm on Sunday July 19th at the Wilmers Road Conservation Reserve, with entrance and parking beside the Fire Station on Wilmers Road off the Springss Road end. Please look out for the signs directing you to the planting site.
