This session combines practical fruit tree training with real earth-building work in the food forest.
Workshop: V-Trellis Fruit Tree Pruning System
Learn how to train and prune fruit trees using a V-trellis system supported by bamboo stakes.
We’ll cover:
How to structure fruit trees for light and airflow
V-trellis training techniques using simple bamboo supports
Seasonal pruning principles for productive trees
Setting up trees for long-term yield and easy harvest
Working Bee: Hugelkultur Build (Red Zone Site)
We’ll be moving topsoil and compost piles to build and extend hugelkultur beds.
This includes:
Shifting organic material
Layering wood, compost, and soil
Building long-term fertility systems for future plantings
No experience needed — just come ready to learn and get stuck in!
What to bring:
Gloves (optional but recommended)
Eye protection
Water bottle
Sturdy footwear
